NADA Foster an understanding of alcohol-related harms through evidence-based strategies. In collaboration with stakeholders, facilitate independent research that informs policy directions and intervention programmes that are effective in Alcohol and Drug Abuse management. Promote production and use of reliable, disaggregated data, research and sharing of information and best practices to support the design and implementation of effective appropriate Alcohol and Drug Abuse programmes.

Our research responds directly to the needs of governments, policy Alcohol, Substance use, Addictions and related fields do this by generating high quality assessment, prevention, treatment, and implementation research and training programs.

We do our best work by collaborating with fellow scientists, community partners, practitioners, and those most impacted by substance use and other addictive behaviors, and we are committed to sharing our knowledge with fellow scientists, practitioners, communities and individuals who are directly impacted by substance use and other addictive behaviors.

Capacity Development

In collaboration with stakeholders to facilitate capacity development of all relevant professionals including health workers, criminal justice agents, law enforcement officers and prevention experts.

Public Education & sensitizations

In order to address alcohol and drug use and its complications, NADA organizes sensitizations and structured training targeting families, workplaces, schools, and communities. These sensitizations aim to create awareness on how to go about preventing alcohol and drug use at home, school, workplace, and community. Training on drug use prevention builds the capacity of participants to understand and implement evidence-based interventions.

Counseling & Rehabilitation

NADA liaises with both public and private institutions to provide and facilitate the development and operation of treatment and rehabilitation facilities, programs and standards for persons suffering from Substance Use Disorders.

NADA provides leadership on planning and policy formulation, research coordination and strengthening of the fundamental knowledge on prevention, control and mitigation of Alcohol and Drug Abuse and related harm.

Our role in policy

We serve as a vital resource on the evidence-base about alcohol for the public health
community, social and government agencies, the media, and society. We pursue this objective in a number of ways, such as:

  • Publishing original research findings, scholarly reviews and commentaries
  • Advising public health-oriented alcohol policy agencies and coalitions on the relevant research on emergent alcohol policy issues
  • Working with the public health agencies and research groups to develop an international base of knowledge concerning drinking patterns, alcohol-related harms, and effective alcohol policies
  • Pursuing and producing reports on agreed upon alcohol policy-relevant research topics
  • Contributing to the development of a workforce of scholars competent in policy-relevant alcohol research
